N. N. Light's Book Heaven presents Janyce Brawn #authorspotlight #kidsbooks #kidlit #fantasy #childrensbooks #mustread

I like to think my books are where imagination and exploration meet. The middle grade series, Tales of the Teleporting Topsider, is full of fantastical, unique characters that live in the Below Lands down the drain. Their problems and dastardly dilemmas embroil David Gonzales when he shrinks and falls down the drain at the beginning of his adventures.

In life, I think kindness, consideration of others and cooperation are keys to living a worthwhile and fulfilling life. My characters are humans, talking animals, and unique and imaginative creatures that populate these Below Lands and work with David to solve their problems. Of course, David has only three days to solve each dilemma and return home via a teleporting hat that the drainosaurs developed or he will be stuck down the drain forever. Surprises await at every turn and David’s character grows through each adventure.

I have loved writing and illustrating books ever since I collaborated with my twin sister in elementary school to write mysteries and fantasies. Now retired from teaching middle school and high school Spanish and English as a Second Language, I write and draw to my heart's content, exploring the question, "What if..." in my imaginative stories and illustrations.

Author Biography:

Janyce Brawn is a retired K-12 English as a Second Language and Spanish teacher who also has a degree in Art. She uses her art training to illustrate magazines and books. With a vivid imagination, Janyce has been writing and drawing since she was a little girl working on handwritten stories and crayoned pictures for books with her twin sister. She and her husband have three grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter. Janyce has used her son’s exploits for inspiration in her writing and art projects over the years. Her Boston Terrier is always curious about what she’s doing at her desk and sticks her short nose into everything, thinking she is helping create characters and scenes. Janyce’s stories and books focus on family values, being kind, and following the Golden Rule to help others through fantasy adventures. When Janyce isn’t writing or drawing, she likes to read, go boating on the nearby lake, or visit with family and friends.
