Title: Lost Beneath the Tide: A Tide Harbor Romantic Suspense (Tide Harbor Suspense Book 2)

Author: Zara West

Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book Blurb:

Cat Silva loves grilled salmon as much as the next person. But the quirky marine biologist doesn’t like how fish farming pollutes the ocean. So, leaving the big city and her overbearing momma behind, she heads off to Tide Harbor, Nova Scotia, to prove her point.

Water-phobic, single dad, Alex Harris, is in line for the lucrative head manager position at Cowling Fish Farms. Determined to show his boss he can handle the job, Alex sets out to investigate reports of a scuba diver hanging around the fish pens, never expecting to find a pink-haired, irresistible woman.

But when his boss orders him to derail Cat’s investigation and a killer unexpectedly attacks, Alex must choose between financial security or saving the woman he and his daughter have come to love.

My Review:

A suspenseful and endearing romance filled with intrigue.

Cat Silva is a marine biologist on a trip in Tide Harbor, Nova Scotia to collect water samples in order to expose the pollution caused by fish farming. Her goal runs contrary to widowed single father Alex Harris’ position as head manager at Cowling Fish Farms. Despite being on opposing sides, they find common ground and a fiery mutual attraction neither one of them was seeking.

I enjoyed the major role the setting plays in the story with both the danger and the beauty of the ocean affecting the characters in different ways from enjoyment to phobia. The description of the small town and the water immerses you completely in the fictional world, enhancing the reading experience.

The main characters, Cat and Alex, were distinctive and well-rounded with flaws and likeable qualities, and the secondary cast of characters, including Alex’s daughter Ellie, also added to the story.

In terms of plotting, the romance and the suspense were well-balanced with the budding relationship between Cat and Alex taking center stage while the pollution from the fish farm, questions surrounding a death in the harbor, and the ethics of Alex’s boss Thomas lingered in the background.

Overall, an enjoyable and satisfying read for fans of sweet romance and romantic suspense.

My Rating: 5+ stars
