Promise Me by @barb_avon is a Christmas in July Fete pick #romance #timetravel #christmasinjuly

Title: Promise Me

Author: Barbara Avon

Genre: Fantasy (Time Travel), Romance, Suspense

Book Blurb:

When Daniel Walker's wife, Amy, died in a freak accident, he gave up on love. He bought Joe's Grocery & Deli and transformed it into "The Christmas Store" to honour her, and her love of Christmas. One snowy night, a woman knocks on the door. Daniel is immediately taken with the dark-haired beauty. Bianca is in possession of a key. She traveled from Toronto to Ottawa to unravel the mystery behind the magic relic. She didn't think she would fall in love along the way. When she is diagnosed with a terminal illness, what choices will she make to preserve their love? Is Daniel her future or will she leave him in the past? Does magic have limitations? Set between 1980 and 1990, "Promise Me" is "a most unusual love story, and one you won't soon forget."

Daniel sat in the dark. The bottle he was holding was sweating, leaving droplets of moisture on his bare chest. He was drinking his sixth beer and he drank quickly, trying to erase the images from his mind. He lost his wife, and now he felt like he was losing his mind, too. Somehow, he had managed to walk back to his car. He drove home, speeding through town, and running stop signs. He wanted to be invisible, and locked within his house, it was the next best thing. He was forced to face his own fears. He was afraid of what he was remembering. He couldn’t stop thinking about her and when he had another episode, in the hallway, sending him to the floor, he remembered more.

What I love most about the holiday season:

It’s a familial holiday with an abundance of food, and hopefully, good cheer. It’s meant to remind us of the love that should be present all year round.

Why is your featured book a must-read to get you in the holiday mood?

“Promise Me” is a love story; a fantastical one, spanning 1980 to 1990, and the first half of the book is set in an Antique/Christmas Store where the love, and magic take place.

The thing I love most about the holidays is the family getting together and enjoying the day as well as some good grub

Thank you, Barbara, for sharing your book in our Christmas in July Fete. It sounds like an intriguing read... not your everyday holiday romance.
