My Review:
Can she finally be set free and heal? I’m a big fan of this author and her books. Rhonda Lee Carver brings so much realism to her western romances. In this book, we find a woman filled with guilt over her brother’s death. She thinks all the townsfolk blame her. When she meets Bend, the new sheriff, sparks fly. She protects her heart but in reality, she needs his love. A great premise, right?
It all starts with an emotionally-charged plot. The focus of this story is all about second chances. But second chances don’t come easy and are rife with pitfalls. The author takes us on a heartbreaking journey to redemption. There’s a lot going on and it centers on a little boy missing. I must admit, the multiple subplots make it hard to follow. The romance gets lost at times.
Don’t get me wrong, the characters are complex. Both Chosen and Bend fall for each other, but the dramatic tension was a bit much. The character development was well-written, though.
If you love high drama, angsty romances with tormented characters, you’ll love this book. Fans of Nashville will want to read this book.

Writing for Rhonda is like falling in love and finding a new best friend over and over again. Her characters will find a place inside your heart too.
