My Review:

 

Grimdarke knows he’s on thin ice but an enemy rips his world apart and the only thing left to do is unleash vengeance. The Maw of Mayhem is a gritty shifter motorcycle club novella that fed my dark side. Don’t judge me, but my weakness is reading biker novels. I love the down and dirty details of life in a motorcycle club. I love the brotherhood vibe. In The Maw of Mayhem, AK Nevermore brings all I love about MC fiction and kicks it up a notch by adding shifters to the mix. Squee! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.

 

Let’s talk about the characters. Grimdarke is the ‘hero’ of this story but he’s a very morally grey antihero. He’s barely holding on and is a fraction of an inch from his cat turning feral. He’s the VP but not many bikers trust him. He’s loyal to the MC and that makes him a great character in my view. I loved delving into the underbelly with him.

 

The rest of the characters are well-written and add intrigue, drama, plus plenty of shifting to the overall story. The mollys and old ladies are fascinating to read. Skank Nikki, as I call her, is a despicable character who I wanted to spit on. Seriously. I got invested in all the characters and that is thanks to the writing.

 

The world-building is flawless. She creates a world never seen before, and its intricacies and layers of detail are brilliantly executed. I got sucked in right away and stayed in this world until the last page.

 

If you’re looking for a dark paranormal fantasy featuring shifter bikers, you’ll soon be addicted to this series, like me. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
