My Review:

Can Jade trust her heart to a trickster? In this riveting enemies to lovers office romance, Darlene Fredette tells the story of two souls yearning for something they feel yet don’t know what it is. Blending indigenous beliefs, modern romance, family drama, and fate, Trickster is all about second chances.

This is my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Her talent lies in writing romance with all the emotion you could possibly want without going over the top. She takes characters and breathes life into them. Her descriptive narration plunges the reader into the story. It’s a very immersive reading experience.

In Trickster, Darlene Fredette pulls inspiration for Jade from her own family roots. The writing is not only realistic but heartfelt. I connected with Jade on so many levels.

The romance is a blending of tropes, some of them my favorites. You might call it slow burn but passion simmers under the surface from the very beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Jade and Eric dance around each other before falling in love. The romantic tension is off the charts yet filled with emotion.

If you’re looking for a couple to root for, fall in love with, and help find their happy ending, you’ll want to read this book. Another fantastic book in the Mortar & Pestle series. I look forward to reading more from this author.

My Rating: 5 stars
