My Review:

Once upon a time, God, Others and Goddess created the world. But as time went on, wars and greed infiltrated not only the world but Heaven and Hell as well. Angels warring with each other and behaving badly spurned Goddess to create a secret world, Avalon, devoid of anything evil. Goddess sees Adamina on Earth struggling to survive and whisks her from Earth to Avalon. She protects her and provides her every need. She teaches Adamina how to take care of the land and it will take care of you. But when Gabriel seeks refuge on Avalon, it sets in motion events so catastrophic, not even Goddess can protect them. With each reincarnation, Adamina and Gabriel search for each other and attempt to stop Lucifer from destroying the world. Will they be successful or is this endless loop their fate?

Angels and Avalon is a fantasy story steeped in Christian mythology. While I love anything to do with angels and demons, I found myself trying to figure out what was going on. It pulled me out of the story. The first half captured my imagination and it formed a solid foundation for what was to come. The angels behaving like humans seemed a touch out of reality but I was able to suspend belief because this is a fantasy, after all. But once the reincarnations started, I had trouble keeping up. I had to re-read a few parts to figure out who was who and where the plot was going. The descriptive narration, though, was spot-on and took me away. I connected with Adamina right away. The ending took me by surprise.

If you’re looking for an escape from the mundane where deceit, power and love rule choices made, pick up Angels and Avalon. I look forward to the next one in the series.
