Are You Using Your Freedoms to Help Others? #inspiration #motivation #FridayFeeling

Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought. – Pop John Paul II

What is freedom?

Freedom is a very personal thing but when you get right down to it, freedom is having the ability to do what is needed. I love Pope John Paul II's definition:

Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.

So, what does this mean? We are all free to do what is right. The world is filled with injustices. From the homeless to bullying, we see people's rights being taken advantage of. We have the freedom to uplift others, stand up and say, "This isn't right". We have the freedom to do what we ought, to do what we're called to do.

But don't I have the right to sit and do nothing, MRS N?

Sure you do, but if you had the power to make a difference and didn't use that power for good, that would be a shame.

I guess it comes back to embodying the Golden Rule. If you treat others like you would want to be treated and you see an injustice happening, would you want people to not stand up for you in your time of need?

Freedom is a powerful state of being and just imagine what the world would look like if we all banded together for the common good. No more hatred, war, fighting, bullying, abuse, hunger, etc.

You're free... stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.
