Title: A Little Bit of Lust

Author: Shirley Goldberg

Genre: Romantic Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

Love-cynical Lucy Bernard delights in her independence. Baking, all things Instagram, the occasional special guy, and most of all hanging out with best friends Deon Goldbloom and Phoebe Karis. But when Deon kisses Lucy at the beach on a chilly afternoon, the two friends jump into a lust-filled romantic weekend. So what’s with slotting her into "ignore" status afterward?

Deon Goldbloom is a widower who can’t move on after his wife's death. Is he a little crazy spending a sexy few days with Lucy and calling it the best time he’s had in four years? Yeah. Except blue Monday comes calling, and Deon isn’t ready for the guilt.

Lucy wonders how a smoochy weekend turns into a friends-with-benefits disaster. And Deon wonders if he’s made the biggest mistake of his life putting Lucy on "ignore." Using all his nerdy charms, he launches a campaign to bring Lucy around. Maybe they can chart a course back to one another if Lucy will only forgive him.

My Review:

A book that says what you do on a weekend might stick with you. A romance that isn't very romantic. The characters are well written. The three musketeers are interesting as a group. For an older couple book, their tendency to go out in threes is much like today's dating style.

I actually had to stream When Harry Met Sally before I finished this book to try to understand the point. While that movie is pretty old, it did tell a story in a fun way. This book is not when Lucy met Deon.

There was a real feeling of disbelief that comes out of this book. A guy might try to keep in touch with someone he really likes for a week or two. Going four weeks pushes to being a stalker. For someone to continue to do one sided comms for months? I figure any guy who is still DMing that long is sending a bit of his self-respect with each DM.

More like a pysch study than a romance, this book really doesn't generate warmth in the reader. It's well written and evidently it portrays anti-commitment people well. I have never met any so I will just say ok. If you like this author's work, then you prob will enjoy this book. If you are into older age couple stories, then this is a great book. Not a book for a 21-year-old (at least not this 21 year old).

My Rating: 4.5 stars
