Title: A Rush of Light

Author: Penelope Marzec

Genre: Christian Fiction, Romantic Suspense

Book Blurb:

A RUSH OF LIGHT is the story of Callie Turner. When she was sixteen her father was murdered but the crime was never solved. Callie became a cop with a mistrust of lawyers. Due to an accident, she is on a disability leave from her job, and trying to start a new career at her father’s old inn.

Nick Messina saved Callie’s life the day her father was murdered. A devout Christian, but a burned out lawyer, Nick has plenty of reasons not to trust cops. Filling in at his uncle’s service station, he is surprised to discover Callie opening up the old inn across the street. Then his uncle is shot outside the same inn where Callie’s father was killed years ago.

Callie wants justice this time, though she suspects Nick and his uncle may have been involved in some crooked scheme as the shooting appears to be a planned hit. Thinking she can solve the crime, she instead finds herself protecting Nick from danger. Worse than that, she finds herself fighting to protect her heart from Nick.

While attracted to Callie, Nick has promised himself that he will never be more than a friend to someone who is not a believer, but as the quest for the perpetrator leads into more danger Nick discovers he has a lot more to learn about faith and Callie learns that when there is no hope left the only way out is prayer.

“The characters are very real, they come alive in their thoughts and interactions. I like the way Nick and Callie cared about each other. I look forward to seeing more of Ms. Marzec’s stories. I recommend A Rush of Light for those wanting to explore a sweet, spirit filled story.” From

“And will Nick allow the Lord to speak to him and let go of his ideas of the way things should be? Sometimes letting the past hurts go is the only way to heal. Will this be possible? A Rush of Light was a great book and I absolutely enjoyed reading it. This was my first book by this author, but I definitely will look for her other books.” 5 Star Rating from Romance Junkies

My Review:

Can Callie rediscover her faith or will she die protecting the man she loves? Ex-cop Callie decides to try innkeeping as her next career and chooses the same inn where her own father was murdered years ago. She meets Nick and his uncle when their curiosity leads to her doorstep. Shots ring out and Nick's uncle is shot. The cop in her assumes it is an aimed hit and investigates. As she digs deeper, she discovers Nick is in danger and protects him. As her feelings grow for Nick, he tells her he can't be more than friends because she's a nonbeliever. Torn between love and faith, Callie is at a crossroads. As the criminal closes in on her and Nick, the danger forces her to realize how powerful faith and prayer can be.

A Rush of Light is a beautiful inspirational romantic suspense I couldn't put down. Sometimes the hardest thing in the world is to let go of the past and put your faith in God. This message is the main theme of A Rush of Light. I simply loved this story. Brilliantly written, the characters leap from the page and burrow their way into your heart. The plot moved at a great pace with the perfect blend of romance, suspense, and an inspirational message. The mystery behind what's going on kept me on edge as I whipped through the pages. The emotional and spiritual tension between Callie and Nick was honest, realistic, and heartfelt. I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Rush of Light. I look forward to reading more from Penelope Marzec. Highly recommend!
