Title: The Maxwell Ghost
Author: Ruth A Casie
Genre: Historical Romance, Historical Fantasy
NOTE: THE MAXWELL GHOST was previously part of the published collection, ONCE UPON A HAUNTED CASTLE. The Maxwell’s Caerlaverock Castle, on the Scottish border is in an uproar. Traitors, deception, murders and ghosts run rampant. The crops have failed and the granaries set ablaze. Rumors fly when servants Evan and his bride-to-be, Angel are found murdered and Evan’s ghost haunts the castle. Did Evan kill Angel then take his own life? Sonia, a young cook is sure everyone has it wrong. The ghost haunts the castle seeking justice. She will move heaven and earth to get to the truth, but she is helpless. Laura Reynolds travels from England to her cousin, The Maxwell’s castle to put Evan’s ghost to rest. She has one week to complete the task or Evan’s ghost is doomed to haunt the castle forever. The Maxwell, while he loves his cousin, doubts her sorceress ways and has more important issues at hand, a traitor in their midst. Jamie Maxwell Collins has finished his service to The Maxwell and is eager for his promised farm. While long-time friends with Laura, he has little patience for her sorcery, but in order to get his farm The Maxwell requires Jamie protect and help her. Will Sonia’s information tip the scales and help them find the true murderer and bring justice to Evan and Angel? Will Sonia’s insight help Laura and Jamie realize their destinies are intertwined with hidden passions? All is in jeopardy when Laura becomes the murderer’s next target. Jamie will find he needs more than ghostly assistance to save Laura and realize they have a love that will last for eternity.
Jamie is a man of logic and doesn’t believe in ghosts, no matter what the residents of Caerlaverock Castle said. Laura believes in her gift and when her cousin, Lord Herbert, asks for assistance, she goes on behalf of her mother. Long-time friends Jamie and Laura team up to solve a double murder. Sparks fly between Jamie and Laura but both deny their feelings for one another. When Laura’s life is in peril, Jamie realizes his insatiable love for her and the identity of the murderer. Can Jamie rescue Laura from the hands of a murderer or is she lost to him forever?
The Maxwell Ghost is a sweeping historical fantasy with traitors, ghosts, a murderer and romance between two friends. Ruth A. Casie sucks the reader in from the first paragraph with her characterizations, descriptive narration and suspenseful twists. The push and pull attraction between Jamie and Laura keeps the reader in suspense. Will they or won’t they get together? The suspenseful subplot of what is really going on at Caerlaverock Castle is so well done, I didn’t figure it out until the very end. I actually cried out when it ended. Highly recommend!
Jamie. He’s an honorable man who protects Laura at all costs. His feelings are hard for him to express so he lets his actions speak for his heart. He’s your next book boyfriend.

Storyteller | Blogger | Creative Thinker | Dreamer | Good Sport | Teammate Hi – I’m Ruth A. Casie and I write historical and contemporary romance. You might be wondering what I’m about. Sit back and let me tell you. I’m happiest when I’m telling stories either chatting in a group or writing them down. I love to put my hero and heroine in tough situations and dare them to work it out—together, always together. They haven’t disappointed. Oh, they complain but in the end their love and relationships are stronger than ever. My stories feature strong women and the men who deserve them, endearing flaws and all. They will keep you turning the pages until the end. I hope my books become your favorite adventures. Here are five things you probably don’t know about me.
1. I filled my passport up in one year.
2. I have three series. The Druid Knight stories are a historical time travel series. The Stelton Legacy is historical fantasy series about the seven sons of a seventh son. Havenport Romances are stories set in a small coastal town in Rhode Island. I also write stories in the connected world of Pirates of Britannia.
3. I did a rap to “How Many Trucks Can a Tow Truck Tow If a Tow Truck Could Tow Trucks.”
4. When I cook I dance.
5. My Sudoku book is in the bathroom. I’m not saying anything else about that.
6. I'm a USA Today bestselling author. Send me a note at Ruth@RuthACasie.com to find out about my hobbies.
