Title: Christmas in River’s Edge
Author: Nan Reinhardt
Genre: Contemporary Sweet Romance, Holiday Romance
Book Blurb:
You can go home again…
After a painful divorce from her high school sweetheart, triplet Jenny Weaver returns to River’s Edge with her young son. While happy to be reunited with her sisters and working at the family’s marina, she has no intention of jumping into the dating pool, especially going into the holidays. Then Gabe Dawson, once a shy nerd who tutored her in history classes, arrives home transformed into a handsome hunk who makes her pulse race.
Archeologist and history professor Gabe Dawson thought he’d long ago outgrown his teen crush on Jenny. Back in town for a few months to help his mom post surgery, he can’t resist reaching out to Jenny. She’s as beautiful, warm, and funny as he remembered and soon Gabe is reconsidering his future.
Gabe is determined to seize this second chance, but can he convince a very wary Jenny that a globe-trotter is ready to come home for good this Christmas?
My Review:
Jenny refuses to succumb to looking for romance after her terrible divorce but Gabe is tempting her heart to give love a second chance this Christmas. Nan Reinhardt has done it again. She’s written a romance so full of emotion, it will melt your heart. The descriptive narration is immersive. The characters are realistic and heartfelt. The romance is quintessential holiday romance set in a small town. If you love Christmas like I do, you won’t be able to put this book down.
Let’s start with the characters. I connected with Jenny right away. She’s been through such a painful time, what with her alcoholic ex-husband and their divorce. If that’s love, then she wants no part of it. Though, she’s seen both of her sisters find genuine love and secretly wants that for herself. But is it worth the risk? It is for Gabe. He’s liked Jenny since high school. He’s all grown up and is a successful man. He’s out to show Jenny he’s the man for her and his love is real. The rest of the cast is well-written and adds such depth to the story.
The narration is equal parts emotion and descriptive. Every scene is described in rich detail. While reading, I transported to this small town. Every emotion, every detail is expressly described.
Nan Reinhardt balances falling in love and real-life problems. There’s plenty of romantic tension peppered throughout. The romance moves at a great pace, and I found myself enjoying Christmas in this small town.
