Title: Dempsey’s Grill

Author: Bryan Fagan

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Comedic Romance

Book Blurb:

Gibson Baker had it all. A beautiful house. A beautiful girlfriend. A steady job and the world's most comfy couch. But when Gibson loses his job and his girl on the same day, he is forced to crawl home to Mom and Dad. At least Mom’s happy to see him.

My Review:

Through no fault of his own, Gibson lost his girlfriend, his home, and his job. He’s got no place else to go but back home to Mom and Dad. Can Gibson turn his life around and grow up or will he sponge off his folks forever?

Dempsey’s Grill is a coming-of-age story where the hero is not some teen but in fact a full-fledged adult. This story is also a very funny romance. How refreshing to have a romance from the guy’s point of view. Plus, the hero is an everyday guy not some millionaire, professional athlete, or royal.

Bryan Fagan has a great talent for writing stories readers can relate to. The dialogue is humorous with a bunch of one-liners. The circumstances are something I could relate to. I’ve known people like Gibson.

I think what I like best about Dempsey’s Grill are the motivational themes on life, love and adulting. Life is hard but it can also be an adventure.

Remember Nick Hornby’s About a Boy? Dempsey’s Grill reminds me of that book. Go on, give Dempsey’s Grill a read and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

My Rating: 5 stars

Author Biography:

I was born and raised in Burlington, Washington. A little farming town 70 miles north of Seattle. I bummed around with odd jobs after high school until one day I spotted a small college in Ashland, Oregon. I later settled in Eugene, Oregon with my wife and two daughters. I began my writing career with the help of my daughters. When they were little, they drew pictures and created stories. One day they asked me to join them. I remember the day my four-year-old asked if I would do something for her. She asked if I would write a novel. And that was the day I began to write.
