Title: Devil’s Food Ripple With a Cherry on Top

Author: Laura Strickland

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Book Blurb:

Fenady Clark's dream of owning an ice cream parlor has inspired her through some of life's hardest challenges. Just when the grand opening's within reach, that wicked rogue, Sebastian Bane, opens shop and starts serving Fenady's designer flavors, all renamed. She suspects he's using black magic to poach her recipes, and if she weren't a good witch instead of a bad witch, she'd whip up a spell and retaliate.

Sebastian's come all the way from England to establish his family's business near Salem. He can't explain how he and the lovely Fenady keep creating the same ice cream confections, unless it's enchantment, or fate. Is there room in town for both their dreams? And what will it take to convince an angry white witch she needs him in her life?

My Review:

Magic is in the air as a rivalry between two ice cream parlors turns heated. Fenady Clark has worked hard to make her dream come true. Just as she's about to open her ice cream shop, she discovers an ice cream shop run by Sebastian Bane has very similar flavors to hers. Is he using black magic? Fuming, she tells him to stop. He counters with a truce. But can she trust him? His eyes convey desire and something else. Why does the Universe keep throwing them together? When a terrible storm threatens both Fenady and Sebastian, will they work together or will both dreams shatter?

Devil's Food Ripple With a Cherry on Top is a delightful, frothy romance, perfect for this time of year. What could be better than two witches making ice cream and falling in love? The romance is slow-building as it starts off as an enemies-to-lovers romance. The description of the ice cream flavors had me craving large quantities of ice cream. The characters, especially handsome British Sebastian, were such fun to read. There's even a cat who has a distinctive personality. The conflict is there but the main plotline of two ice cream parlor owners falling in love makes this a must-read.

Author Biography:

Multi-award-winning author Laura Strickland delights in time traveling to the past and searching out settings for her books, be they Historical Romance, Steampunk or something in between. Her first Scottish Historical hero, Devil Black, battled his way onto the publishing scene in 2013, and the author never looked back. Nor has she tapped the limits of her imagination. Venturing beyond Historical and Contemporary Romance, she created a new world with her ground-breaking Buffalo Steampunk Adventure series set in her native city, in Western New York. Married and the parent of one grown daughter, Laura has also been privileged to mother a number of very special rescue dogs, and is intensely interested in animal welfare. These days while she's writing, you can always find her latest rescue, Lacy, nearby. Her love of dogs, and her lifelong interest in Celtic history, magic and music, are all reflected in her writing. Laura's mantra is Lore, Legend, Love, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
