Genre: Romantasy, Romantic Fantasy

Book Blurb:

One secret could destroy the Nine Worlds, and only the truth can save them.

Cyran Daralei, an Elven healer, harbors a dark secret. Centuries ago, he put his stepfather into an enchanted sleep, only to find he has escaped—unleashing disease and destruction in the dwarf realm. Now, Cyran must hunt him down before his vendetta against the dwarves devastates the Nine Worlds.

Shalendra Elasalor, daughter of the Norse death queen, has been imprisoned by the dwarf king while searching for her lost family. Rescued by Cyran, she soon realizes their fates are bound. To end the chaos spreading across the realms, they must confront an ancient evil and the magic they have long denied.

Can they trust each other enough to prevent the destruction of all worlds, or will their pasts and insecurities tear them apart before they even begin?

My Review:

Cyran holds a secret so deadly, if it isn’t rectified, all Nine Worlds will perish and chaos will reign. Revenge of the Elf Lord is an all-encompassing romantasy with descriptive narration, world-building reminiscent of Tolkien, and fantastical characters you’ll connect with. The world-building is reason enough to read Revenge of the Elf Lord but then again, so are the characters. Take my advice and read Revenge of the Elf Lord.

Let’s start with the world-building. Every fantasy reader knows a book lives and dies on the quality of the world-building. Heidi Vanlandingham carefully crafts her worlds with intricate detail so the reader can get immersed in the story. Her world-building is based on Norse mythology, yet she adds her own special magic to it to make it her own. This is some of the best world-building I’ve experienced in a very long time. Revenge of the Elf Lord showcases why Heidi Vanlandingham’s world-building skill is second to none.

The characters are vibrant and make this story come alive. Even though these characters are rooted in fantasy, they are relatable and easy to connect with.

The plot is complex with brilliantly executed narration, action scenes that yank you into the story, and plenty of plot twists. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.

My Rating: 5+ stars
