Title: Second Chances in Montana

Author: Lucinda Race

Genre: Contemporary Cowboy Romance, Sweet Western Romance

Book Blurb:

In a small Montana town, love blossomed between Renee Mitchell and Hank Shepard. As teenagers, they were inseparable until a misunderstanding during freshman year of college drove them apart. Two decades have passed since they’ve talked, but a family emergency brings them full circle—back to where love blossomed.

Renee’s lifelong dream was to take over her family’s apple orchard. But a herd of cattle wreaks havoc on her newly planted trees.

Thundering across the pastureland, astride a black stallion, Hank Shepard is ready to save the day and drive the cattle back to his family ranch. Now that he’s back, he’s intent on mending more than fences. As he works by Renee’s side, helping her replant the tree stock his family’s cattle destroyed, dormant feelings between Renee and Hank spring to life like the orchard after a long, cold Montana winter.

Yet, it’s inevitable that Hank will return to his law practice in Texas. Will a long-distance relationship between Hank and Renee fan the flames of love, or will it vanish like apple blossoms in spring?

Second Chances in Montana is a rewrite of Apple Blossoms in Montana. The story has been revised and expanded to a full-length novel and is now the first novel in the Cowboys of River Junction Series, although each book can be read as standalone. A sweet and clean romantic story with a guaranteed happily ever after. Happy reading!

My Review:

Can Hank heal more than broken fences, like the love still burning in his heart for Renee? There isn’t a thing I don’t love about Second Chances in Montana. It’s my favorite trope: second chance romance. Hank and Renee stole my heart. The writing is a joy to read with fast-moving dialogue, immersive narration, and strong themes on love. Escape to the wilds of Montana where love blossoms as sweet as a fresh apple off the tree.

Let’s talk about these characters. Renee is a caring heroine who is committed to making her family’s apple orchard a success. Her reaction to seeing Hank again connected me to her. He hurt her badly and she’s never forgiven him. It’s a second chance at love but can she trust him? My heart broke for Renee. She deserves all the happiness in the world, in my opinion.

Hank is a great hero. He’s also never gotten over Renee. The more he tries, the more he stumbles over his words. He lives in Dallas but an opening in Montana appears. Can he forge a new path with Renee by his side? I love Hank. His heart is as big as the state of Texas. He’s got a second chance at love. The push-pull conflict he feels comes across well to the reader. A relatable hero anyone will connect with.

The writing is so smooth and effortless, you’ll forget you’re reading a book. Every scene is beautifully written. The romance is realistic yet full of swoon-worthy romance. I adore this book and this couple.

My Rating: 5+ stars
