When Bailey Madison’s sweet face popped out of the office, Brahms dropped his jaw. A thrill pierced his heart and ran tremors all through his body. Seeing her conjured all the old feelings. The seaside stroll, the setting sun, the heart-connecting conversation—all crashed into his memory. He’d never forget their kiss.

Her unexplained disappearance pinched his heart. Without a word, she vanished.

Still trembling inside, he stepped closer. “Bailey, Bailey, Bailey.” Despite the tightening of his throat, he grinned. He vowed never to disclose how much she unnerved him. “Good to see you.”

What was on her head? He blinked. A bowl of felt ice cream? A smile spread across his face. Oh, this was rich. He stifled a nervous laugh with a trembling hand. Shaking his head, his words failed him.

She was the last person he expected to encounter in this small ice cream shop in Seward, Alaska—in the very shop he came to close!—of all places. Yet, there she stood, filling his eyes and giving him all the same chemical sensations.

“Brahms Kingsley. What are you doing here?”

She remembered him! Their kiss was laced with too much meaning to be forgotten so quickly. “I’d like a sundae.” He pointed to the menu board above the glass cases.

She bit her lip. “I’ve already stored the ice cream for the night.”

“Then I’ll take the one on your head.” He fought to keep the corners of his mouth from rising.

She stared. Her eyes widened. She touched her hat. A blush pinked her cheeks and tinged her ears.

“Bailey—”

She pointed toward a glass-enclosed shelf of fudge. “Can I get you something else?”

A kiss, like the one we shared under the Golden Gate Bridge. Everything pierced his memory—the cawing of the gulls, the lapping of the waves, the texture of the sand under his toes, the whirling of the search and rescue helicopters overhead, her scent as he held her close, and the flutter of her breath on his cheek. “What else do you have?”
