Title: Wrapping Up Christmas: Moving on to a New Year

Author: Gracie Guy

Genre: Later-in-Life Contemporary Romance

Book Blurb:

When Anna Miller starts out on a short vacation, a chance stop in the quaint New England town of Dickens will forever change her life. East Coast native and single dad, Julian Thomas feels like he and his daughter are finally settling into their new routine after moving out of the Big Apple. Until he meets the teacher in her new school, then he’s not sure the ray of sunshine is going to be a good fit for his daughter. He thinks she’s bold and irrepressible; she finds him to be arrogant and condescending. Can the magic of Dickens steer the two injured souls in one direction?

Excerpt:

Her eyes focused on the word DICKENS. Hhmm, a Christmas store?

With no further information available on the hard-copy map, Anna pulled out her cell phone and typed Dickens, Massachusetts into a search engine. In seconds, the screen of her phone began flickering as row upon row of data continued to load.

“Whoa.” She scrolled through what seemed like hundreds of links and thousands of pictures. Interestingly, they weren’t all winter holiday centric. Many of them were people hiking or riding horses, partaking in street festivals and fireworks.

An hour later, Anna slowed to the posted twenty-five miles per hour and toodling along the main thoroughfare of the quaint town. Reaching the far end, she turned her compact EV around to retrace her steps, eventually parking in front of what seemed to be an independent bookstore named The Library Cat.

Anna grabbed her purse, sunglasses, and fob from the passenger seat and started exploring. With the noon-time sunshine peeking through the heavy canopy of elms, maples, and oaks, her lightweight sandals tapped along the sidewalk. From smiles on the faces of strangers, to the colorful bounty of flowering containers, everything around her exuded happiness.

Before she’d even finished walking the length of the block, she felt light and giddy, returning grins, head nods, and “good day” greetings. Without a doubt, she wanted to fill her soul to the brim with this optimism. Heading back to her car, Anna decided to spend a few days in Dickens.
