Title: The Barnstormer

Author: Jane Lewis

Genre: Historical Romance

Book Blurb:

Pilot Frankie Howard, can do no wrong when he’s flying and showing off his daredevil aerobatic skills. On the ground, trouble follows him wherever he goes, especially trouble with women. Frankie adores his best friend's sister, Ruth Ann, and endures her come-ons and rejections in an effort to capture her love. When he finds out she has a new beau, he accepts the defeat until fate steps in and changes their lives forever.

Ruth Ann Douglas lives a charmed life as the spoiled daughter of the town pharmacist. She bewitches and teases all the boys, especially her brother’s best friend, Frankie. Her dream of becoming an actress takes her to an acting school in Atlanta where she meets Ronald Waters, a young actor. Ronald wants to win her heart, but Ruth Ann can’t forget the handsome barnstormer and the small town she tries to leave behind.

My Review:

In the air, Frankie can pilot anything, but on the ground, he wants the one woman he can’t have. Can he and his best friend’s sister, Ruth Ann, play for keeps? The Barnstormer is a classic trope but with a historical twist. This historical romance will keep you guessing and melt your heart. The Barnstormer is an unforgettable romance.

I’m quickly becoming a fan of this author and her books. She writes about unorthodox women making a name for themselves and going after what they want. Her heroines are wonderfully written but I think Ruth Ann is my favorite. She’s got spunk which I love. I connected with her right away. The more Ruth Ann went through, the more I rooted for her.

The descriptive narration is immersive with plenty of emotion. Every scene is described down to the last detail. Blending historical accuracy with descriptive narration makes for an incredible reading experience.

As for the world-building, Jane Lewis uses her writing skills to create a world any reader will enjoy. Her attention to detailing this world is impressive and adds depth to the overall story.

If you love historical romance, you’ll want to read this gem of a book. If you love historical accurate romances with characters that’ll leave their mark on you, pick up The Barnstormer.

My Rating: 5+ stars
